Today we are going to talk about the Evolution of Mobile phones. Mobile phones have changed the way we communicate significantly, with today’s young people have never known a world without them. However, it has not always been this way – mobile phones are relatively new, only coming into existence around 1971. We are living in the world of constant connectedness, but how did it all begin? There was a time when there is no cell phones. The very first models were available in the 1970s when we used them to make phone calls and send text messages. But, the Evolution of Mobile phones started when Motorola created the very first mobile phone. People called it the DynaTAC 8000X (spelled as two words with an X) and it weighed 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs). Today, the latest smartphone model has a much smaller form factor as compared to those early phones. In fact, most smartphones now measure as little as 40 mm (1.6 in) across.

It was 1994 when People make their first call with a GSM cell phone. The very first cell phone manufacturer was Qualcomm, which had the honor of releasing the first GSM-capable phone in August 1996 – the OmniTRACS 700. The first generation of smartphones was very large and heavy, weighing over 3.3 lbs. The first smartphone with a screen size under 4.0″ was the Samsung Galaxy S line in 2010.

By the 1980s, transistors came to the forefront of innovation. The invention of the microprocessor enabled electronic devices that were small, portable, and relatively inexpensive.

In 1973 Martin Cooper developed  The first handheld mobile phone while he was working for Motorola Corporation. Motorola claimed that their DynaTAC 8000X could make telephone calls at distances up to 2 miles (3 km). This device used analog technology similar to the original Bell System. But it did not require a modem. However, AT&T wanted to license Bell Labs technology instead of using analog technology.

This ultimately led to the development of digital technology for telecommunications. There were two main types of phones at the time, cordless and corded. The original cell phone was a cordless phone, but it required an external battery to be recharged during operation. Martin Cooper is credited with the development of the first mobile phone.

Motorola’s Impact On Handheld Phones

In 1973, Martin Cooper, the CEO of Motorola, was awarded a patent for a portable, handheld device that could make and receive phone calls. This became the first handheld mobile phone. The very first commercial model of this device came to be known as the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X (for “ten thousand TX frequency”), and it was launched in 1983. A year later, the first DynaTAC phone call was made on a cellular network in the United States by John Liberto, an engineer with AT&T. The DynaTAC 8000X was a large device by today’s standards, measuring four inches long and 1.9 inches wide. It weighed 1.44 pounds and had a charge time of up to 30 hours.

This device could store 50 phone numbers and 20 phone contacts, and it cost $3,995. A year later, the price had dropped to $3,295. In 1983(not get the specific date), Motorola introduced the StarTAC 8000X, a lower-cost and smaller version of the DynaTAC 8000X. The StarTAC 8000X used a smaller and lighter handset than the DynaTAC 8000X and weighed just 0.9 pounds. Both the DynaTAC 8000X and StarTAC 8000X were powered by Motorola’s SLT (“small-light-thus”) battery technology, which was smaller and lighter than competing battery technologies of the time.

The DynaTAC 8000X and DynaTAC 8000S were the only StarTAC models with a backlit display; this was achieved by placing thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) screens in the corners of the phone, rather than on the front surface The DynaTAC 8000X was discontinued in 1991, and the 8000S went on sale the following year. Both models were succeeded by the smaller (but heavier) StarTAC 8000xl (released 1992).

Now in 2021, the Modern Mobile Phone gives us a good service that allows consumers to make free calls to any mobile phone in the United States and Canada as well as all over the world. Now in a pandemic situation, we also doing classes from home. Even we did our all work from home which is really a blessing from the wonder of since and the invention of the Mobile Phone.

Finally, As we near the end of 2021, many of us might be thinking about the smartphone and what it means to us, and how it has affected our daily lives. For some of us, we can’t live without it. While others may only use theirs for checking email and social media while running between errands. We were one of those few who couldn’t live without any smartphone.
